That Awkward Moment When You Can’t Find Your Fave Underwear In Stores

June22

I discovered these undies not long ago at Target, like right on the damn shelf! For $8/$9 a 3-pack! They have all of the things I was looking for in a new underwear, plus when I actually wore them they ended up being more comfortable than any of my old ones. Woo! So I bought a second pack a month later. They just stay put and I love that! My old ones were JMS brand hi cuts, but they were always too big no matter what size I got. I felt like I was swimming in ’em. But not these! These babies were just what I needed. So I wanted to replace the old with the comfy-new and headed to my usual Target store. FAIL! They ran out. None in my size, none even in this style anymore. OHNOES!!!

I tried a few more Target stores, but no dice. I was devastated. But then I remembered my own online shopping rule of thumb: Knowing exactly what you want will get you what you need! So I went online and found them at the same price (plus shipping, boo!) and ordered two packs! I just got them in the mail today and was delighted at the new colors I got in the assorted pack. Woo! I had found the same ones on a web site, but then found that the exact same site sold through Amazon, but for a dollar less in shipping. Not sure why, but my budget is beyond tight and so I went through Amazon. No regrets! They’re perfect! Exactly what I wanted. And was even surprised in a good way with how they arrived:

Well, it seemed pretty classy to me to have it wrapped in tissue with a nice seal/sticker like that. They had this cute insert that had a picture of a woman’s legs with 5 pair of underwear on going up the legs…it said, “Please wear yours while you try on ours.” I loved that! Ha-ha! Anyway, I love these undies and would recommend them to anyone seeking cute and comfy cotton ones that are affordable, too. They go to a “14” but that’s like a 30/32 U.S. I bought the 13’s and they are perfect for my 28/30 ass. Trouble would be finding them, but I got them here. But who knows, they could be at your local Target/KMart/Walmart.

What are your favorite and comfortable underwear? (Sorry, but I hate the p-word.)

June21

Oh yeah, it’s baaa-aack! I will be taking submissions from anyone who wants to exercise their right to Bare Arms!
Email your pics here: notblueatall@notblueatall.com, please include the name you’d like included in the post, a blog or etsy shop you wanna plug, your thoughts on bare arms or other fatty philosophies. Does not have to be in a tank top, so long as your arms are bare. Have fun with it!

Also, feel free to still treat comments as TMI topic/discussion area! Feel free to ask TMI questions or just vent/rant about your own stuff. I love it! We all do! =0)

So here’s my tank top pic for today, it’s so hot already and it’s not even 11am! Oh well. I got this tank at Torrid about a hundred years ago or so, you know, give or take! Ha-ha! I’m so over doing my hair and actually giving a fuck about how I look this week. I’m not hiding a thing today…Too hot! Ha-ha! My love to you all! <3 *Hugs*

Wow, Roaman’s, I’m Impressed!

June2

I got a catalog from Roaman’s in the mail yesterday and I flipped through with my usual disdain for these things. But I was pleasantly surprised, I must say! Usually I flip through these fatty catalogs with my eyes ready to roll. I rarely fatshion blog or wish list, but here’s what I found to be fab in this here catalog (and were I not beyond poor at the point would absolutely buy):

The essential oversized tops you can dress up or dress down. Cotton. M
2 Pocket Henley Tank

Complete the look with our dyed-to-match cardigan, item# 507-46471. Ou
Floral Print Empire Waist Maxi Dress

Pullover with short sleeves. Polyester georgette; cotton voile lining.
So it seems I’m leaning more femme suddenly! Ha-ha! I would have guessed all plaids and polka dots, nope! And ruffles? I’m usually not that into ’em, but okay. That first tank, well, I love the look and length and two pockets? Yes, please! Simple and classic and casual, just like moi! Not! I’m boho at heart and I think this shows especially with the florals. That big shirt is so gorgeous it hurts! I don’t know though, there’s a fine line, at least for me, between cute florals and full-on granny time, ya know? But I love it! And that illusion dress? OMZ! So cute! That halter swimdress? To die for! If only I had the monies…oh well. A gal can dream.
There were some fatshion fails (IMHO), but let’s focus on the positive, shall we? Cute swim suits! Adorbz dresses! Practical garb for almost every gal! No worries. Way to go Roaman’s! Woo! Enjoy 40% off yoru highest priced item with coupon code: RD32618 (expires 7/6/2011)

Judging Others

May27

Can we all agree it’s just wrong to judge people?

I’m sure we’ve all at least heard of a certain big box store chain that people secretly take pictures of their patrons and post them on a certain web site (the people of…). I recently got a touch caught up in a thread on facebook about this specific site. A friend had posted about it saying something to the effect of it is just wrong wrong wrong to body shame and make judgments about people. Her friends didn’t agree. They felt that a post on that website was in fact deserved since the woman was wearing “two bandaids and a cork” (which sounds painful, where does the cork go?) and this woman should have more respect and should think of the children!!!

What in the hell and the how? I mean, really?! Look, I get that some people may have a preference for certain fashion norms. I understand that you may have been raised to dress a certain way in a given environment. But hey, not everyone buys into that or was raised that way. I don’t think it’s right to judge anyone, period. Not on how they dress or look or what have you. Our actions should speak for themselves. When you judge someone on their appearance you are making many assumptions about them. You wouldn’t want those assumptions made about you, I would think. They may dress a certain way and see nothing wrong with it. Who the hell thinks about children when getting dressed in the morning? F ’em all, I say!

I will wear what I want when I want to where I want. If you don’t want your children to see a giant fat lady? Keep ’em at home! I am sick of society protecting and always thinking of the children. Why can’t you as a parent just explain to your child that different people dress in different ways and have different body types and that is what makes the world go around? I would. I don’t believe I was ever protected from this shit as a kid anyway. Part of learning is seeing the world around you and deciding for yourself how you feel about it.

I’m not saying that I’ve never judged people, but I stopped judging others when I realized it only made me judge myself more harshly. But body policing? When is that okay? NEVER! But to say that someone has to dress a certain way? Not cool (and it gets me all riled up, frankly). It just goes back to all of those bullshit fashion rules we were taught growing up. Nor horizontal stripes if you’re a fatty fatterson? Bullshit! You should see what I’m wearing today (grey and black striped v-neck from Avenue, thank you). White shoes after labor day? Fuck that! Fuck all of these stupid goody-goody proper-bullshit rules. I’m so done with that.

The point of my friend’s post was simply about the site itself and how wrong it is for people to take people’s pictures in secret only to post and ridicule the person online. It’s wrong! It’s bullshit! It’s what is wrong with society today. We somehow think it’s okay to do this? Since when? Oh yeah, since the internet. Ha-ha! Not really, but I was raised to believe that we’re all equal, no one is better or worse. I still believe this. It keeps me grounded. It allows me to see people and the world on a somewhat more even playing field. I know stuff is shitty in the world, I’m not delusional. But shit y’all, you cut someone? They bleed! End of story!

That site is offensive. It should be offensive to anyone and everyone who views it. Yet somehow it is still up and still getting new posts. It perpetuates classism, ablism, sizism, sexism…every “ism” there is! It takes more than a simple dissenting voice to rid the world of this shit, but it can’t hurt, ya know? And what if it was your mom or brother or aunt or granny on the site? Would you still ridicule or play the blame and shame game? I don’t think you would, but I don’t know you, so I couldn’t possibly know what you would do. Funny that.

Your thoughts?

TMI Tuesday!!!

May17

Y’all I’m drawing a complete blank today. If you have any suggestions, lay ’em on me! If you’d like to share your own TMI stuff, please do! Only thing I really have to share is that I just bought some completely adorable tops at Target this morning and I am still giddy that I found them in my size (stock was limited and both weren’t in their proper place…fate much?). I also took it upon myself to once again fill out a comment card complaining about the women’s plus sections complete lack of signing as well as the fact that the entire section is crammed onto four racks so that if you touch one garment half of them fall on the floor. Also had to talk to management about a couple of negative ninnies working there standinga round talking shit about their co-workers. Inapropriate doesn’t even cover it, yo! Sometimes you just have to speak up and tell people they are wrong and sometimes you just have to go over their head. I know I did the right thing and I was satisfied when the manager seemed more upset about it than I was. Hey, I’ve been there, retail management sucks, but lousy employees are worse!

How are you today? What can I help you with? Lay it on me! I love you! <3
