So, This One Time…
This may get to be a bit of a TMI post, but fuck it! I need your help!
So, there was this one time I couldn’t find my favorite underwear in the store, remember that? Yeah and then I found them online and happily ordered from the same place for awhile. Until…they ran out of my size! I messaged them and was instructed to contact the manufacturer, but the Fruit of the Loom site doesn’t show anything in a size 13…so what’s a fabulous fatty to do?
I’m now looking for your help, lovelies. I have typically preferred the hi-cut style for it’s larger leg openings. I have typically preferred cotton underwear for it’s perceived breathe-ability, but I’d like your thoughts on this as well (read: don’t want sweaty crotch). A must is assorted colors and patterns…I love those! They just make me happy! White is out of the question. However, I’m on a mega-tight budget and have 67″ hips! I was getting the size 13 in the Fruit of the Looms and they fit perfectly, but not sure how that translates to other brands/styles. I’m willing to pay up to $4-$5 per pair, but obviously less would be so much better. Also, I hate those traditional elastic waist bands. And tagless would also be preferred. Quite the picky one, eh?
What do you wear? Is cotton better for my bits? What’s up with this microfiber business? Must I really give up on the fun colors/patterns? Is my budget simply not enough? I want your real opinions and advice on the subject. Having discovered this discontinuation along with my favorite jeans I’m just at a loss here. I mean, jeans and underwear are my staple wardrobe! Â Ha-ha! Â I just placed an order with Avenue for their Broadway Straight Leg jeans, hoping beyond hope that they can possibly replace my worn our Avenue Denim Lite jeans of yore. *Sigh*
I turn to you for your wisdom, experiences and tales of whoa and woe! Thank you for taking the time to consider my quandary.
Also, today is Spirit Day! I hope you’re wearing purple to support:
I have been told that wearing cotton cuts the risk of infection. I was going to ask if you have tried Just My Size. I am currently wearing Fruit of the Loom cotton panties, which I was lucky to find at Walmart in a bargain bin, 5 pairs for $8. They are, however, size 9, & I didn’t notice how large the sizes there went to, my dil was helping me paw through the bin & we stopped as soon as we found what I needed. Good luck.
I’m not sure how the sizes translate, but I’ve been ordering all my undies from One Hanes Place for the past couple years and I couldn’t be happier. I’ve been able to find my size (11) in a variety of styles, in cotton, and in grab bags of color and print for more like $2.00 – $4.00 a pair. Tagless, hipster, grannie, bikini, I can get them all. In those ‘assorted color’ sets, I don’t get much/any choice in color, but then I don’t have a problem with white panties… I just prefer a lot more color. They also run frequent sales and BOGO deals.
Looking at the site, it seems they can go up to size 12 (51″ hips). I don’t know if that helps you or not, but there it is.
As for purple… I didn’t realize it was Spirit Day, but yes, I am wearing purple. Not that that’s unusual for me.
Can you round up people (Sewmisunderstood?) to sew some for you?
I checked the JMS website & it reminded me of what I should have remembered on my own, that JMS panties run small. Accordiing to charts, their size 14 is only for hips up to 64″. I hope you can find what you need.
I wear cotton. When I was in high school/college I had a bunch of polyester undies, and I got several yeast infections. Since I went cotton, nothing.
I was going to suggest Avenue, but they don’t seem to go up to your hip size. Crap.
Microfiber intrigues me, but it seems to be pricier than cotton.
I hope you wear a top too, otherwise your shoulders might get cold. 😉
I wore purple yesterday, but I am wearing an Equality Now t-shirt today, does that help? Also, as a Washington State girl, I put in my yes vote for R74 to uphold marriage for all.
Wish I had actual, useful information for you, but I don’t. Good luck!
Just My Size (jms.com) has all-cotton high-cuts in assorted colors up to size 14, for $14.49 a 5-pack. Tagless too. I’m not sure what’s in the “assorted”, but you could order multiple packs and send back any combos you don’t like, I’d guess.
My experience is that cotton (or cotton/spandex) is definitely better than anything else including microfiber, when the health and well-being of one’s parts is concerned. I flat-out won’t wear nylon unless it’s mesh. (Ick damp cotton lining with the moisture held in by the outer nylon layer, ugh.)
